July Favourites

Can't believe it's August already, I thought I just blogged about June favs yesterday?! Well, anyway, let's not waste any more time and let's get right into it!

1) White nails
I have always been reluctant to try out white nails because they remind me of high school when I used to apply "liquid paper"/Wite-Out on my nails when I get bored during classes, but ever since I saw them on a number of fashionistas, I thought that they actually look ultra chic, classy and summery without all the overwhelming cuteness you get from pastels, and finally brought myself to try them out when I went for a manicure the other day. And no doubt, I can't get enough of it!

Featuring favourite mug all the way from London :D

 2) Rachel K Original CC Cream
Was able to try this out when the Luxola team included it in the goodie bag during the press lunch back in June and I'm absolutely digging it! It's available in 2 shades - Original (Pink undertone) and Neutral (Yellow undertone), gave mom the Neutral one and she seems to love it too.

Consistency is considered to be thicker than normal BB/CC Cream, but it doesn't make my face look cakey at all, colour correction is pretty impressive as well, for me at least.

And the shade seems to be the only colour that suits my skin tone at the moment, been working indoors all this while and I became a little too fair that my other foundation/BB cream is too dark for me. Guess I'm stuck with this till I get some tan on :P

Available at Luxola.com for RM86; saw Watson's carrying Rachel K cosmetics too, not sure if all branches has it though.

3) RMK Dark Circle Concealer (Pink)
If you haven't noticed already, I am one of those with super incredibly dark dark circles. Now, the reason for them panda eyes aren't mainly because of my lack of sleep, but also my allergies and inheritance (thanks mom). With heavy dark circles like mine, people would always think that you're tired even if you feel energised like a kid, and it's starting to bug me for having to explain things over and over, hence, I'm on a constant lookout for a good way to cover up my dark circles because it seems like it's the only method I have.

I might, just might, do a short tutorial on how I cover my dark circles soon (no promises), because it requires a number of steps (heavy duty ayy).

Now, this concealer from RMK specifically made for dark circles is used for me to correct the colour of my circles, which works as a base before I apply an actual cream concealer, but more details on that when I do a tutorial. I like how the consistency is creamy but watery, I know it doesn't make sense, but let me tell you, it's in the perfect consistency where it doesn't cake up your under eyes, yet provide a good amount of coverage.

Comes in a pen-like packaging with a twisting knob at the bottom to twist the product out to the brush. Product is pink in colour, to counteract greenish dark circles, commonly found on Asians with yellow undertone. It has SPF too, which is a great plus!

4) Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil
Needless to say, this product is also part of my circle covering regimen that I use on a daily basis. I love how it goes on creamy and dries matte, it also provides high coverage, which I desperately need). The only bad thing about this is that it's in a pencil form which requires you to sharpen it occasionally, and I find it really stupid, because it wastes tons of products during the sharpening process (well maybe that's the whole point so you keep repurchasing it), and you can't just use any sharpener as this is a jumbo pencil, urban decay has a sharpener for this but it's always sold out, but the Sephora double barrel sharpener works just as good.

There are videos on YouTube teaching how to depot the concealer into a container so you don't have to sharpen and waste products, but I'm a lazy bum so I'll stick with sharpening.

5) Crest 3D White Whitestrips
I've been wanting to whiten my teeth for like the longest time; saw YouTube gurus using these and I finally found a reseller in Malaysia (https://www.facebook.com/Crest3dWhiteMalaysia), I only used 7 strips and I see visible improvement, didn't manage to take comparison pictures but you can look it up online as they have pretty good reviews.

It's pretty expensive I might say, but definitely worth it if you compare it to spending big bucks going to the dentist to get your teeth whitened.

Now for some random nick-nacks and deco for home:

6) Black and white striped curtain
After moving into my new place for months, I finally got a proper curtain, well it's not 100 percent done yet because the seams are still loose as my mom wasn't able to find her sewing machine, but it looks good enough for me already.

It could probably be the optical illusion of the vertical stripes that makes my room appear twice as big, and it looks gorgeous no matter day or night when the daylight or moonlight peaks in through the white stripes. Chic!

From Ikea by the way, if you were wondering.

7) The Elder Wand (ZOMGGGG!)
I have to admit I am a huge huge fan of Harry Potter, mainly because I grew up watching the movies, and it involves sweet childhood reminiscence that I hold on to till now, also because it brings my fantasy of being in a magical world to life.

So, knowing my overly aggressive obsession with Harry Potter, my friend bought me an Elder Wand from London, and my life is now complete.

He got himself a Death Eater's wand, which is the snake and skeleton headed one, you can see from the pictures below, almost as cool as my Elder Wand, almost.

Ok, that's it for my July favs! I'm editing pictures for my next post now, I'm on a roll here!
Alright, talk to you guys soon! Xx

Lots of Love,
Ashley Ahn
